Soccer Technique - How to Ping a Soccer Ball
Paul Scholes is a legend at this soccer technique called the soccer ping or ping kick. I personally call this type of soccer passing the ping. In my opinion it's one of the harder soccer skills and techniques out there! Today we are learning how to ping a ball. This is what it looks like. Description: A "ping" is a low driven ball that can be used as a pass or shot. When pinging the ball, the ball stays on the ground or is in the air a foot or two off the ground. Manchester United Legend Paul Scholes is a former player who had a phenomenal ping on him! The purpose of pinging a ball is to get the ball to your target as quickly and as accurately as possible. Let's say you look up and have a teammate that is 30-40 yards away from you with no defenders between you and your teammate. A regular pass would take some time to get there. A lobbed, chip pass would take a lot of time to in the air to get there. This is a situation where you want to "ping" it in! Key Points: 1. Stand five steps behind the ball, but a step to the side of it. 2. Shoulders face your target. Do not come from an angle and turn your shoulders. 3. Run up to the ball smooth and your plant foot should be 6 inches next to the ball. 4. Turn your pining foot out and rotate it down showing your laces. You want to hit right below the middle of the ball with the hard part of your foot that is below the base of your big toe. 5.
